LUIGI MALONES Cork - Café Bar
open Monday - Sunday 10pm - till late

Probably Cork's first proper continental style Plaza, Emmet Place is the perfect setting for Luigi Malones. That sense of space is continued through four sets of mahogany French doors at either side of the entrance to this very large and beautifully finished café-bar-restaurant.

Inside, despite its size, a very intimate atmosphere is soon apparent. There is a very French flavour to the bar-reception area, which is the front of house greeting point. The centre piece of the bar is the original station clock from Kings Cross Station, St. Pancras, which was situated at the entrance of the Great Eastern Line.

The most recent change has been the additional banquette area to the rear of the restaurant where we are happy to accomodate any size party.

The restaurant itself achieves a very relaxed atmosphere by blending a classic setting with some very contemporary pieces of art, lighting and even the fire place. Customers love the beautiful Rhodesian teak floor salvaged from the Old Port of London Authority building next to the Tower of London, which dates from 1890. Heading to the rear of the restaurant, the art décor glass restroom entrances were crafted and commissioned by well-known Cork artist, Debbie Dawson. No Luigi Malones restaurant is complete without the trade mark ‘family wall’ and Emmet Place is no exception. Pride of place goes to the earliest known photo of Luigi Malones himself (taking afternoon tea with his wife) and is on loan from a branch of the ‘National Gallery’ in Bergamo, Northern Italy!
